The Landmark on Lamar

The Landmark on Lamar is affordable senior housing located in downtown Wichita Falls, Texas. Beginning in 2017, developers began transforming the W.A. Freear Furniture Company / Maskat Shrine Temple Building from an abandoned shell to a beautiful, unique opportunity for the seniors of Wichita Falls.

As historic tax credit consultants, Post Oak successfully nominated the former furniture store and later fraternal organization headquarters to the National Register of Historic Places. The historic tax credit application process included strategic approaches to subdividing interior spaces, augmenting windows to meet egress, and the introduction of new features and finishes.

This $7M rehabilitation was completed in 2019 and provides stylish, affordable housing to seniors in need.
