Olympia Mill Village Architectural Design Guidelines
Richland County contracted Post Oak Preservation Solutions to create Design Guidelines for the Olympia Mill Village Historic District. The district is primarily residential and was developed as a mill village to house the workers of the Olympia Mill in the early 20th century. The district was developing rapidly, altering the historic character of the neighborhood. Post Oak was tasked with developing Design Guidelines that were user-friendly, accessible, and easy to use. The Project Team worked closely with County Staff through in-person meetings and virtual discussions to create a document that suited the specific needs of the district. An emphasis was placed on graphics, clear photographs, and examples to illustrate the guidance. Architectural style and maintenance guides were also included to enhance the document.
