Plaza Hotel
Granada Senior Living
San Antonio, Texas
The Granada Senior Living building is a fourteen-story, reinforced concrete structure with stone, brick, and stucco veneer located in downtown San Antonio, Texas. Originally built as the Plaza Hotel, the building opened in 1927 and doubled in size in 1928. It is located adjacent to the San Antonio River Walk. The former hotel was converted into senior apartments in the 1960s. The mixed use building historically hosted an impressive lobby, retail on the first floor, a basement barbershop, dining rooms on the first floor, a mezzanine level ballroom, guest rooms on all upper floors, and a twelfth floor ballroom.
Post Oak assisted developers with the historic tax credit application and rehabilitation of the building, which retained its use as senior housing. Finishes and building systems were upgraded and returned to the historic configuration, and new amenity spaces were created. This $64M rehabilitation was completed in 2023 and provides stylish, affordable housing to seniors in need.
